Hike and Yoga Flow
These events were a hit in 2023 so we're bringing them back in 2024 for a monthly partnered hike and yoga flow from Wander Women and our pals, Rooted Yoga and Fitness! Come embrace the winter season with a hike at beautiful Walnut Woods State Park, and then return to the Walnut Woods Lodge for a candlelit restorative yoga flow suitable for all levels. Seriously, even if you’ve never yoga-d, this event is for you!
Full Snow Moon Hike
Join us for our monthly full moon hike! This month, we will be hiking a combo of the Lakeside Trail and Savanna Loop Trail at Fort Des Moines Park, and watch the moon rise over the icy lake! We’ll stop every so often along the trail to talk about the flora and fauna we find along the trail, and other nerdy nature facts.

Come learn how to tap a maple tree with us! Ever wondered about that sweet, sticky syrup on your pancakes and the process of how it goes from tree-to-bottle? Join us for a Sunday afternoon hike with maple tapper Ryan Francois of the Woodland Realm to find the perfect maple tree to tap. We’ll demonstrate the basics of tapping and tap a tree while on this hike.
Mini Wander: Whiterock in the Winter
Embark on a full-day adventure exploring Iowa's winter ecology at one of our favorite spots for winter wandering — Whiterock Conservancy! With its 40+ miles of trails, Whiterock is an amazing example of Iowa's varying landscapes, from riverbeds and oak savannas, to limestone bluffs and sustainable agricultural fields.
S.A.D. Girl Hike
Get your sunshine on and join us for our S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) Girl Hike! A mental health and winter wellness focused hike, dedicated to combating seasonal depression and fostering mindfulness. Join us as we hike scenic trails, delving into insightful discussions on effective strategies to uplift your mental well-being during the chilly winter months.

Join us for our Monthly Community Hikes! These hikes are free and open to women, non-binary and gender fluid folks who feel comfortable in spaces that center the experiences of women. Bring your friends, bring your trip mates, bring total strangers who look like they like nature! We're just excited to gather with all you nature nerds.
