Spring Wildflower Hike

  • Yellow Banks Park 6801 Southeast 32nd Avenue Pleasant Hill, IA, 50327 United States (map)

$18

Spring is here and you know what that means — Iowa’s spring ephemeral wildflowers are ready to bloom! Join us for a guided hike to learn how to spot and identify spring wildflowers native to Iowa. We’ll take a leisurely hike through Yellow Banks Park in Polk County to learn to identify common Iowa forest spring ephemerals — or, wildflowers only here for a short time — and put your new identification skills to the test! We promise you’ll walk away from this hike knowing so much more about the beauty beneath your feet.

This wildflower hike will be led by Paige Shafer, Wander Women guide and Education Coordinator for the Des Moines Botanical Garden. Field guides will be available for participants to use, but feel free to bring your own guide or favorite botany book.

Registration is limited to 25 folks.
