JUNE
To celebrate Pride Month, join Pie Bird Pies and Wander Women Midwest for a very special Pride Pike! Celebrate the end of Pride Month during this extra special, extra queer Pike extravaganza! We’ll gather at Water Works Park, and then chow down on some delicious treats from Pie Bird Pies and coffee from Current Coffee. All proceeds from registrations will be donated to the Iowa Safe Schools.
MAY
We’re going back to the basics this May for a delicious night of gourmet hot dogs and s’mores hand pies! Join us for a beautiful spring hike around Yellow Banks Park (flowers and birds galore) before enjoying a raging fire with your favorite camp treats!
Join us for an urban hike through forest-y Beaverdale as you learn the basics of how to identify any tree you encounter! Spring is a great time to learn the different elements of tree ID, and we’re pumped to host this super educational and hands on hike that’ll inspire you to look more closely at the trees in your neighborhood and beyond.
Wander Women Midwest is partnering with Chef Katie Porter of Seasonal Palette for a one-night-only supper club-themed group dinner at Pammel State Park Lodge. Expect a beautiful golden hour in the woods followed by a delicious multi-course menu built around classic supper club dishes and fresh, locally-sourced ingredients.
Have you ever wanted to know how to make your own candle? Join DSM Mercantile and Wander Women for a beautiful spring evening as we craft outdoor-themed, handmade candles! This event will celebrate our love of nature while teaching you a delicious new skill.
Join Wander Women Midwest and the Des Moines Art Center for a three-part guided hiking series that invites you to experience the same landscape across changing seasons. Centered on connection, reflection, and time outdoors, each hike offers space to notice how the environment—and your relationship to it—shifts over time. Inspired by the Art Center’s Topographies exhibition, the series considers how movement through place shapes memory and meaning, with a simple, optional creative reflection following each walk.
Nature has always had the best color palettes, and we want to capture them for art! Join us and local fiber artist Jen Geigley for a hands-on yarn dyeing workshop inspired by the colors and landscapes of nature.
