What do you get when you combine the two best things in the world, pies and hikes? Pikes! Join Wander Women and Pie Bird Pies on the tastiest collaboration nature’s ever seen as we wander through our favorite parks in Central Iowa and enjoy Des Moines’ best pies! Seriously, if you haven’t tried Pie Bird Pies yet, you’re in for a life-changing treat.
Pikes are back, friends! And we’re bringing you something extra sweet this time around. Join us for a beautiful (almost) fall Sunday morning as we hike the amazing trails of Annett Nature Center in Indianola to see the beginnings of the changing fall colors. Annett is the perfect place to celebrate fall, with its gorgeous woodlands, sprawling prairie and large pond that attracts migrating bird friends. After our hike, in Pike fashion, we’ll feast on a Pie Bird Pies delicacy — only this time, with a twist.
Instead of pie for this hike (hang with us, we promise it’s good), we’re leaning into the cozy Sunday vibes and will be chowing down on Pie Bird Pie’s famous Biscuit Cinnamon Rolls. These perfect pillows of butter, cinnamon, and sugar are a cross between a biscuit and a cinnamon roll, which frankly is the combo we didn't know that we needed. Their signature flaky buttermilk biscuits are swirled with brown sugar and cinnamon and topped with a hefty dollop of cream cheese whipped cream. The tang of buttermilk in the dough and the cream cheese whip on top balances out the sweetness perfectly.
PLUS we’ll be pairing the rolls with Current Coffee cold brew lattes. Current is another great small business friend, and they make the city’s best cold brew (not biased, it’s just the truth). They’ll be bringing the fall spice cold brew lattes and signature classic cold brew for us to enjoy. Three small businesses, one beautiful morning, and a whole lot of fun. What else do we need?
