Hop on a kayak and paddle with us down a 7-mile scenic stretch of the Elkhorn River! Check out the sandstone cliffs, abundant wildlife, and unique perspective of this important river system in West Omaha. Single-person sit-top kayaks with backrests and seats will be provided by a local outfitter. This is an all-inclusive kayaking experience on a beginner-friendly stretch of the river. It’s a great opportunity for folks who want to try paddling and to do so in a safe and accessible environment! Your guide, Lindsay VanZee, has been a river guide and has paddled many miles of water. She will give instructions and a safety brief before the trip. The float should take about 2.5 hours!
No personal paddling gear is required. We will meet at the Elkhorn River Tubing and Adventures campground location (25205 Harrison St, Waterloo), get shuttled up to the river put-in, and paddle back down on a serene summer evening. You will be required to wear the provided PFDs.
Registration is limited to 12 folks.

Each Wander Women event has an Adventure Rating attached (Beginner, Intermediate or Challenging) to give Wanderers a better idea of the activity level and physical requirements of the event. This Bite-Sized Adventure is rated at Beginner because our paddle will be beginner-friendly with a safety and paddling instruction prior to getting in the water, and our event will have access to modern restroom facilities.
