You picked a good weekend to be a birder, Wanderer. Spring migration is in full swing and Kuehn Conservation Area is exactly where you want to be. As a bonus, this event falls on Audubon's Global Big Day—a global celebration where birders everywhere head outside to spot and log as many species as possible. We're getting in on the action!

This three-hour field day is geared toward birders who have some basics under their belt and are ready to level up their skills.

We'll focus on:

  • Identifying migratory warblers (Kuehn is one of the best places to see them!) and other spring migrants

  • Understanding migration patterns and what to look for this time of year

  • Sharpening your field ID skills — plumage, behavior, habitat

  • Birding by ear: picking out calls and songs in a busy spring soundscape

  • Contributing your sightings to Audubon's Big Day count

Migration is fleeting and magical, and a morning at Kuehn during peak passage is something you won't forget.

We have 12 pairs of binoculars to rent free of charge for participants who need them. If you don’ t have your own binoculars, select them during registration. If you do have your own binoculars, please bring them!

Registration is limited to 15 folks.
