September is a fantastic month for finding fungi in the forests! We’ll plan to hike 1-2 miles at Margo Frankel Woods, a small forest preserve just north of Des Moines, and take our time to explore all the nooks and crannies where fungi live and thrive as we learn about what varieties can be found in Iowa and how to identify them. Feel free to bring a mesh bag or basket for your finds (we will have plastic bags to share, too).
