From the golden prairie, delicate wildflowers and the deep greens of a river bluff, nature has always had a palette worth paying attention to. In this workshop, we’ve teamed up with beloved knitting star and fiber artist Jen Geigley to bring the colors of nature straight into your hands. Using a blend of natural and acid dyes, you'll explore the art and science of yarn dyeing, learning how to translate the textures and tones of the outdoors into stunning, one-of-a-kind colorways—and your very own, personalized skein of yarn!
No experience? No problem. This workshop is designed to be fully beginner-friendly, with expert instruction and all materials included from start to finish.
We’ll cover:
Using natural and acid-based dyes for dyeing yarn (and other fibers!)
Different dyeing techniques to achieve different looks, textures and patterns
Different types and weights of yarn & fiber to use in your projects. We’ll be dyeing 220 yards/100 grams of bare 100% Fine Superwash Merino Wool for this event. Don’t know what that means? No worries! We’ll explain more at the event!
All materials and supplies are provided, including one skein of yarn. Given availability of supplies, participants may be able to bring their own yarn for additional dyeing.
Whether you're a seasoned fiber artist or you've been knitting/crochet curious, you'll leave with a hand-dyed creation that's completely your own!
Registration is limited to 20 folks.
