Join us out west for a trip of a lifetime to experience all that Utah has to offer! This trip is jam packed with dream activities to really see Moab and the Utah landscape in all its forms and iterations!

Join Wander Women for an amazing week-long exploration of the incredible red desert of Moab, Utah! This adventure is designed to offer a mix of outdoor exploration, relaxation, and bonding, with plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow wanderers with a stunning backdrop of red cliffs, canyons, and the mighty Colorado River.

With a balance of hiking, off-roading, canyoneering, rafting, and volunteer work, this trip offers the chance to explore Moab’s famous landscapes while enjoying unique activities guided by some of Moab’s amazing (and bad ass) female guides. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a first-time explorer, you’ll leave feeling empowered, inspired, and with a deeper connection to the wild beauty of the Southwest.

Trip in a snapshot:

  • 8 Days / 7 Nights of Lodging in cozy cliff-top Yurts at Dead Horse State Park and a private home in town of Moab

  • Activities & Excursions including hikes, rafting, off-roading, canyoneering, farm to table dinners, and a special volunteer day with Moab’s Trail Team

  • Most Meals are provided, with the exception of a few meals in town, allowing time to explore local eateries (please refer to the itinerary for specifics)

  • Expert Local Guides including Joy, a past Wander Women guide and Moab local, and a team of skilled Moab guides who will share their deep knowledge of the area


ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Day 1: Arrival & Dead Horse State Park
Saturday, October 4th
Fly into Grand Junction and take a shuttle to Moab. Settle into the unique yurts at Dead Horse State Park, where we’ll spend the night under the stars. After check-in, we’ll enjoy a Wander Women-cooked dinner, followed by a relaxing campfire, dessert, and stargazing under Moab’s famous night skies.

Day 2: Island in the Sky & Canyonlands National Park
Sunday, October 5th
Start the day early with a camp breakfast, followed by a scenic drive to Canyonlands National Park’s Island in the Sky district. Explore iconic hikes like Mesa Arch and Grand View Point for breathtaking panoramas and stunning viewpoints. After lunch, we’ll venture to Upheaval Dome for a short hike and more spectacular desert views. In the afternoon, enjoy an optional hike or mountain bike ride at Dead Horse State Park, one of Moab’s most beginner-friendly bike areas.

Day 3: Moab, Corona Arch & Hell’s Revenge Off-Roading
Monday, October 6th
We’ll start with breakfast at Dead Horse before checking out and heading to Moab. After a stop to see pictographs on Highway 313, we’ll hike the Corona Arch and Bowtie Arch trail (2.3 miles out and back). Afterward, enjoy a riverside lunch at Gold Bar Campground on the Colorado River. In the afternoon, there’s free time to shop and explore downtown Moab.
In the evening, gear up for an exciting Sunset Off-Roading Tour of Hell’s Revenge, complete with a charcuterie dinner and sweet treats.

Day 4: Volunteer Day & Arches National Park
Tuesday, October 7th
After breakfast at the Airbnb, spend the morning volunteering with Moab’s Trail Team, helping to build the Mud Springs Trail. After a brown bag lunch on the trail, we’ll head to Arches National Park for a sunset picnic dinner under some of Moab’s most  iconic arches.

Day 5: Rafting on the Colorado River
Wednesday, October 8th
After breakfast, head to the Mild to Wild office for an exciting day on the Colorado River. You’ll paddle the Moab Daily, navigating Class II rapids and taking in the stunning scenery of Castle Valley. We’ll stop for a riverside lunch before tackling the Class II+ “White’s” rapids.
In the afternoon, return to Moab to relax before enjoying dinner in town.

Day 6: Canyoneering with Faith Dickey
Thursday, October 9th
Begin your day with breakfast before heading out for a Canyoneering Adventure with renowned highlining guide Faith Dickey. Not only will we learn how to rappel down the canyon walls, but we will partake in a fear-based training to help conquer our inner demons that tell us “not you can’t!” Explore Moab’s canyons as you rappel, scramble, and climb in this thrilling desert landscape.
In the evening, we’ll enjoy a fancy sunset plein air dinner, surrounded by the stunning scenery of Moab’s cliffs.

Day 7: Canyonlands - The Needles District
Friday, October 10th
We’ll rise early for a day trip to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, where we’ll hike to Chesler Park via Elephant Hill. After a packed lunch in the park, take time to soak in the beauty of this remote, lesser-visited area of Canyonlands.

Day 8: Departure
Saturday, October 11th
After a farewell breakfast, we’ll shuttle you back to Grand Junction for your flight home, taking with you lasting memories and new friendships.


ACCOMMODATIONS & LOCATION

 

Dead Horse State Park - Moenkopi Yurts
A perfect location for experiencing sunrise, sunset, and a bit of seclusion, the Moenkopi Yurts offer a glorious camping experience up at Dead Horse Point State Park.  With sweeping views and a private spur to the Intrepid Mountain Biking Trail System, this yurt site can be your quiet spot of heaven while enjoying the Moab area.

Each yurt of the five Moenkopi yurts contains sleeping space for up to six people, in the form of a bunk bed (bottom bunk is a queen mattress, top bunk is a full mattress) and a pullout futon couch (full mattress).   An outdoor propane grill allows for cooking on-site and the propane is provided by the park. Heating, air conditioning, and electrical outlets are available, and tables are available both inside and outside of the yurt. Modern restroom facilities are located within easy walking distance.

Moab House
The group house we have in Moab is just 15 minutes outside downtown and situated in the San Juan mountains. The house is stocked with all modern amenities and essentials, and features a beautiful big deck for gathering and enjoying the mountain air.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED

Participants will be responsible for providing/paying for:

  • Flights/Transportation to/from the trip. Participants are expected to fly/drive/Amtrak in and out of Grand Junction, Co. Transportation to and from Moab will be provided by Wander Women. Travel guidelines and suggestions will be sent to all participants!

  • Arrival or departure hotels, if needed

  • Travel insurance

  • 2 Dinners in Moab

  • Meals outside of group travel (breakfast/lunch on the 4th, lunch/dinner on the 11th)

  • National Parks Pass

  • Optional mountain biking excursion ($90-145/person, depending on how many folks sign up)
