Wild Scotland: A Highlands Adventure

Learn more

Immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of Scotland’s northern scenery on this once-in-a-lifetime journey through the Scottish Highlands.

Join us for 11 unforgettable days in Scotland, where we’ll trade prairie skies for moody mountains, winding glens, and sprawling lochs that have inspired travelers for centuries. This thoughtfully curated trip is designed for those who crave the wildness of a true trek and bucket-list adventure — but also appreciate comfort, connection, and the ease of a fully guided experience.

Over the course of five hiking days, we’ll cover nearly 60 miles of the West Highland Way, Scotland’s most celebrated long-distance trail. Winding through the rugged Highlands, this iconic route leads us past Scotland’s largest lochs, tallest mountains, heather-and-fern-covered hillsides, and storybook villages. The West Highland Way is considered one of the world’s most approachable long-distance trails — challenging enough to feel empowering, yet fully supported every step of the way. Wander Women handles all logistics, including luggage transfers and cozy, comfortable accommodations, so you can focus on the joy of moving through this spectacular landscape. Each night, we’ll unwind in charming guesthouses and lodge-style hotels — warm refuges offering rest, a comfortable place to land after hard hiking days, and the chance to savor hearty Scottish cuisine and a well-earned pint after a day on the trail.

While the Way is the heart of our journey, this trip offers so much more than hiking. We’ll explore the rich history, art, and culture that make Scotland magical — beginning and ending in Edinburgh, the country’s vibrant capital. From cobblestone streets to sweeping castle views, we’ll wander through centuries of stories on a guided walking tour and personal exploration of the city’s vibrant districts. Then, we’ll head north in preparation for our hike, to Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, where we’ll see our first glimpses of the Highlands and Scotland’s wildness up close.

This adventure is perfect for Wanderers ready to challenge themselves, connect deeply with nature, and experience the wonder of traveling in good company. If you’ve been dreaming of an adventure that balances grit with comfort and inspiration, this is it! Step into Scotland, take in the Highlands, and come along for a journey of a lifetime.

ACTIVITIES

  • Hike the legendary West Highland Way: Traverse nearly 60 miles of Scotland’s most iconic long-distance trail, journeying through glens, moors, forests, and mountain passes that reveal the true spirit of the Highlands. We’ll be hiking the northern section of the Way, from Inverarnan to Fort William, a total of 57 miles over 5 days. Hiking in the Highlands comes with unique challenges, from old army roads to intense weather changes, but offers hikers unparalleled beauty and true adventure.

  • Experience the magic of Edinburgh: We’ll begin and end our trip in Edinburgh! Wander the cobbled streets of Scotland’s capital as we immerse ourselves in the culture and magic of this small, bustling city. We’ll enjoy a guided walking tour that brings the city’s rich history and literary soul to life, and visit popular attractions like the National Museum of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle, New and Old Town and endless pubs and restaurants. Wanderers will have free time to explore on their own, or can stick with the group if they like.

  • Explore Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park: Hike in Scotland’s first national park, where emerald hills meet deep blue waters. This region is known for its breathtaking beauty, abundant wildlife, and trails that wind through forests and blooming heather. We’ll also enjoy a scenic boat tour of the famous Loch Lomond, one of Scotland’s most storied lochs that sits on the shore of the national park.
