It’s time to get extremely Midwestern, folks. This was the fastest-selling trip two years running for a reason, and we’re excited to keep the tour going!
Join us in Wisconsin, the hub of thriving supper club culture, for a culinary tour-de-force as we trail our way through the center of the state, experiencing all the delicious vibes these charming, old school establishments have to offer.
Don’t know what a supper club is? They’re locally owned gems that have been a staple of Midwestern culture since the 30s and a throwback to prohibition: think upscale Midwestern dishes, relish trays, sassy bartenders, perfectly-crafted classic cocktails and more! Our carefully curated itinerary takes you on a tour of the some of the state’s most beloved supper clubs, offering an authentic taste of the Midwest’s culinary heritage.
But wait, don’t think we’re aren’t getting outside on this trip — we’ll also be exploring the local mountain views on the trails at Devil’s Lake State Park, reveling in peak summer vibes, paddling our way through the Wisconsin Dells and new this year: Staying in a mid-century themed destination inn right outside Devil’s Lake! Throw in a pickling demonstration (we’re really leaning into the theme, y’all), and this trip is bound to be an instant classic.
Adventure Rating: Beginner
This trip is beginner friendly and can be customized to be as laid back as you’d like. The hiking at Devil’s Lake State Park has some decent elevation change, but we’ll take it at a moderate pace and have plenty of rest opportunities.
ACTIVITIES
Dining at 3 classic supper clubs in central Wisconsin. The supper clubs have been hand selected because of their history in the Wisconsin supper club scene, excellent reviews and fantastic settings.
Paddling in the picturesque Wisconsin Dells. No, this isn’t the kid-filled, tourist crazed Dells you’ve heard about—the Dells have beautiful landscapes and amazing outdoor offerings, and we’ll take advantage!
Hiking at Devil’s Lake State Park, one of the best parks in the Wisconsin state park system. Devil’s Lake is a haven for hikers, paddlers, swimmers and rock climbers, and features amazing hiking views of the Baraboo Mountains all around it.
Relish (see what we did there) in a pickling demonstration led by your guides! Relish trays and pickled vegetables are a staple of supper club cuisine—learn how to make your own relish tray at home and keep the clubbing vibes alive!
ACCOMMODATIONS & LOCATION
We’ll be staying at an adorable mid-century themed, family-run destination inn just outside of Baraboo. The rooms have multiple bed options (see below) and modern bathrooms.
GETTING THERE
If you are flying in from outside of Wisconsin, the closest airport is the Dane County Regional Airport in Madison (MSN) (about an hour drive away). You’ll need to rent a car to get to the inn, or arrange carpool with a local Wanderer. Carpooling details are sent pre-trip in the private trip Discord channel. Carpooling arrangements can’t be guaranteed, especially for not-in-Iowa trips, but we try our best to connect Wanderers for coordination!
“My friends and I had a wonderful time! Our accommodations were clean and comfortable cabins. The outdoor activities were the perfect blend of nature, movement/exercise, and fun! Experiencing the supper clubs was a great way to spend our evenings, and of course, we enjoyed some truly unforgettable meals. Best of all, we were able to experience it all with an amazing group of women!”
