It’s baaaaack! SO many of you have asked us about another reading retreat, and we’re thrilled to be offering one this fall in cozy Minnesota!
This fall, escape to a cozy cabin reading retreat, where warm soup, good books, and autumn views set the scene for a weekend of pure relaxation and fun. If you're looking to curl up with a great read, get a little crafty, revel in some old school camp vibes or simply unwind in a space filled with warmth and creativity, this retreat is calling your name!
Our Fall Reading Retreat is designed to give you all the time and space you need to dive into that novel you've been meaning to finish, or start a new one in a perfect cabin setting. We’re mixing in some nature and creative time too, with a beautiful leaf-peeping hike, crafts, and programmed community time — the perfect balance of “leave me alone I’m reading” you time and bonding with other book lovers. And we’re all about no-pressure vibes, so whether you’re a casual reader or book-obsessed, you’ll fit right in!
ACTIVITIES
Scheduled, dedicated reading time
A guided interpretive nature hike at Banning State Park — perfect timing, too, as the leaves will be turning up north!
On-site sauna and cold plunge experience
A bookish craft table, where you can make your own bookmarks and other reading-related artistic creations
Scheduled book discussions, where you can talk about your favorite reads or find something new to pick up
An interactive book recommendations board, full of reading suggestions from other Wanderers
A book swap table — bring the titles from your shelf you want to share with others, and pick up a few new ones for yourself!
Puzzles, games and more for non-reading downtime!
ACCOMMODATIONS & LOCATION
We’ll be staying in cabins at Crooked Creek Retreat, with a variety of sleeping and amenity options (see options below). One of the cabins has a modern bathroom, while the other two utilize outhouses. Each cabin features a wood burning stove.
Cedar Cabin
A modern cabin featuring a private queen bedroom, 2 twin beds in another room, and 4 twin beds in an upper loft. Two modern bathrooms within the cabin.Maple Cabin
Features 6 bench-style built in beds with access to an adjoining restroom with a composting toilet or outhouse. This one has summer camp vibes!Pine Cabin

GETTING THERE
If you are flying in from outside of Minnesota, the closest airport is the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) (about a 1.5 hour drive away). You’ll need to rent a car to get to the property, or arrange carpool with a local Wanderer. Carpooling details are sent pre-trip in the private trip Discord channel. Carpooling arrangements can’t be guaranteed, but we try our best to connect Wanderers for coordination!

Participants will be responsible for providing/paying for:
Transportation to/from the trip (we always encourage carpooling and can connect you with other participants to ride with!) and to trip activity locations

PAYMENT PLAN
We offer payment plans for all our trips, so you can pay a deposit now and the rest over time! WeTravel (our booking platform) easily lets you make a downpayment (this is also your non-refundable trip deposit!) and set up automatic payments for the remainder.
