Step into a weekend designed for slowing down, making, and connecting through creativity. Our Cozy Craft Retreat is a three-day escape devoted to all things fiber and finding joy in the rhythm of creating.
Hosted in collaboration with Jen Geigley—knitwear designer, pattern author, and creative force behind some of the modern knitting world’s most beloved projects—this retreat is part workshop, part gathering, and all heart. Jen’s relaxed, modern approach to making welcomes everyone: seasoned crafters looking to reconnect with their practice, and beginners ready to finally learn.
Throughout the weekend, our cozy cabin just outside the Twin Cities becomes our studio. Slow down, relax and let time stretch in that wonderful way it does when you’re fully immersed in what you love. Mornings are for focused crafting sessions with Jen and open creative time by the fire; afternoons invite play—trying new mediums, swapping yarn, taking field trips into the Cities, or sharing inspiration. Evenings bring comfort food, relaxation, and quiet satisfaction as projects grow inch by inch.
This long weekend is about productivity AND presence—having intentional time to work on the WIPs that’ve been lingering too long, and finding community in other craft lovers who share your passion. Go ahead, give yourself permission to slow down and escape for a weekend dedicated to your crafty side. Whether you come to refine your skills, start a new project, or simply surround yourself with new creative friends, this weekend will help you rediscover the magic of making something just because it brings you joy.
ACTIVITIES
Enjoy intentional crafting time: We’ll have many hours built in throughout the weekend for you to work on all the projects you’ve been dreaming about (or finally finish the ones that have been haunting you). Jen will be available all weekend to consult on your projects or help bring you new inspiration!
Optional field trips: Venture into the city with us! Is there any place better to be in winter than fiber-obsessed Minneapolis? Nope! On Friday, we’ll bring the Wander Women vibes with an optional excursion to Como Conservancy, a plant-filled oasis in the heart of St. Paul that’ll warm our spirits and bodies. Then on Saturday, we’ll do a “Yarn Crawl” through the city, visiting the Textile Center of Minnesota and several famous local yarn shops. None of that strike your fancy? No worries, more time for making back at the cabin!
Get inspired: Throughout the weekend, we’ll have a dedicated space in the cabin for new projects and swapping materials. Hang out at our “Try a Craft” table, where you can pick up a new hobby (uh oh). Or take a gander at the yarn swap table, where you can bring your unused yarns that need a new home. We’ll also enjoy a group craft night where we all try our hands at a new project, and a group “Stitch & Tell”, where you show off your completed projects or WIPs you’re most excited about.
Beginners welcome!: Are you new to fiber arts? Never knitted in your life, but wanting to learn? This weekend is for you, too! Jen will be leading a Fiber 101 workshop on Friday morning for anyone interested, and we’re happy to send you a recommended list of tools to bring to start your knitting or crocheting journey!
Coziness is the priority: This is a weekend designed around comfort and maximum gratification! We’ll have delicious food all weekend, tons of cozy spots to post up and hang out, more tea than you could ever imagine, and great cabin vibes all around.
